TYPE OF POSITION: Remote Internship/Unpaid
HOURS/COMMITMENT REQUIRED: 10 hours/week, minimum 3 months
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Remote Development Intern will learn how to be a part of a small development team, with a focus on a variety of fundraising and friendraising practices including: grant writing, events, and communications. The Development Intern will assist with researching and drafting letters of inquiry and grant proposals, works to document grant related organizational processes, planning and implementation of events, researching prospects for WeCAB event sponsorships, and helping with fundraising campaigns via email and social media.

- Utilize research and interpersonal skills to identify potential local and national sources for grants.
- Utilize and grow communications skills by writing and proofing donation requests, thank you letters, letters of inquiry and grants, and preparing mailings.
- Further grow communication skills by creating event displays, brochures and other print materials.
- Learn organizational skills by tracking grants, sponsorships and donations, as well as the grant receiving process.
- Take a leadership role in documenting grant related processes to be added to the manual.
- Learn about being a team player by joining staff in decision making and at very occasional weekend and evening events to engage the community.
- You will also have the opportunity to learn new skills and share your skill set with the team.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Must have access to a computer with Microsoft Word Suite and have the ability to do video calls
- Good interpersonal skills
- Excellent phone etiquette
- Excellent oral and written etiquette and communication skills
- Highly organized, able to define & prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficient in MS Office
- Must be able to pass a background check prior to start date
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Course work or previous experience in public relations, communications, marketing, event planning, or non-profit organization preferred.
