Volunteering For WeCAB

WeCAB can only exist and serve people if people volunteer! Neighbors helping Neighbors. Volunteering for WeCAB is so simple and flexible and volunteers are ALWAYS needed!

Volunteer positions include:

  • Rider Registrars
  • Dispatchers
  • Drivers
  • Office Help

Volunteers who wish to speak with those needing assistance with transportation might want to consider becoming a RIDER REGISTRAR. Rider Registrars take calls from prospective WeCAB riders.  After a prospective rider calls and asks to register, the Rider Registrar contacts the rider within 2-4 business days and registers the rider over the phone.

People who wish to volunteer from the comfort of their home may be interested in our DISPATCH team.  People can choose their time and days on which to volunteer.  Our dispatchers even volunteer when they travel or move to a different state!  This is the perfect role for our volunteers who “snowbird”!

“Your service has made a difference in my life.  Without WeCAB, I don’t know what I would do. My stress level is lower, and I have met some wonderful WeCAB people. Thank you so much for your service. I hope that when I can drive again, I can volunteer with WeCAB.”  -Carver County WeCAB Rider 1/2/17

Volunteer DRIVERS use their personal vehicle to provide transportation when they want to drive on the day(s) and time(s) they are available to drive.  Drivers do not need to set a schedule. Each driver decides when and where they want to drive; drivers schedules are completely at their discretion.  Drivers can request mileage reimbursement at the current charitable rate OR drivers can take a tax deduction for the amount.

Dispatchers and the Drivers are supported by a computer program called the Ride Scheduler, which enables WeCAB volunteers maximum flexibility.

Volunteers are also needed on an “on call” basis to help with OFFICE DUTIES.  Mailings, copies, special events, marketing, graphic design… WeCAB is a place where you can use your talents.

WeCAB is a flexible organization and depends almost entirely on volunteers to provide transportation services.

Training and appreciation is provided for all volunteers!
