WeCAB’s Board of Directors

WeCAB is governed by a Board of Directors.  WeCAB is very interested in attracting additional Board Members to add to the depth and knowledge of its current Board of Directors.  WeCAB Board members serve 3-year terms on a rotating basis.  Current Board Members include:

mary-hershberger-thunMary Hershberger Thun

Mary lives in Victoria, MN and is Victoria’s past Mayor and City Council member.  She is a volunteer with the Minnesota Orchestra and spearheaded the building of Victoria’s Charlson Thun Community Bandstand.  Mary is a former Chief Operating Officer of student educational financing companies and has worked extensively in college student financial aid.  She shares her life with her husband David and their golden retriever, Sophia.

Mary Erickson is a resident of Victoria and has two children and two grandchildren. In October 2016 she was appointed to the WeCAB Board and represents the Schools of Eastern Carver County where she has worked in Community Education for over 25 years. She currently represents the school district in partnership initiatives. She is a founder of the Arts Consortium of Carver County (ACCC) and is currently a member of the organization. She enjoys golf, travel, walking and reading.

susan-hoverstenSusan Hoversten

Susan Hoversten moved to Mound in 2015 with her family, which includes husband Eric and daughter Sonia. Susan is originally from Rochester, MN and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire in 1992. She held several teaching jobs before starting a family. As an Air Force family, Susan and her family have lived all over the world. During this time, Susan managed several volunteer service organizations that provided community services to Air Force personnel and their families. Susan believes volunteering is the heartbeat of a community. Susan currently serves as the President of the WeCAB Board.

Naomi Russell lives in Waconia with her husband and three active children. Her household is currently in transition as they each graduate from college and prepare to begin their careers. As a former Community Partnerships Specialist for the Schools of Eastern Carver County, Naomi’s background in community engagement and program development propels her to community service. A passionate arts advocate, Naomi is the founder of the popular community arts project the “Barn Quilts of Carver County”. She has served as a WeCAB board member since 2015 and recently became a dispatcher for the WeCAB Carver County service area.

rev-dr-erik-saxvikRev. Dr. Erik R. Saxvik

The Rev. Dr. Erik R. Saxvik joined the WeCAB Board in October 2016. Erik grew up in New Jersey, North Dakota and Nebraska. He graduated from Omaha Westside High School, Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul. Pastor Erik served Lutheran congregations in the Dakotas, Oregon and Minnesota. At the age of 62 he left parish ministry and spent a year in clinical training at Healtheast Hospital to become a chaplain. For the past ten years he has been a chaplain at Presbyterian Homes Lake Minnetonka Shores. He and his wife, Kay, have five children and enjoy traveling, their lake cabin, living in Mound and life in the Twin Cities.
